The Ongoing Research We're Fighting For

Age Related Macular Degeneration
Oregon scientists are testing a new cell-based therapy for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a major cause of vision loss in people over 50. The approach could preserve people's vision while also reducing medication side effects and lowering patient costs.

Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a debilitating disease affecting nearly 10% of reproductive age women worldwide. Current treatments involve hormones and/or invasive surgery with high rates of the disease coming back. Oregon scientists are engineering a non-hormonal, non-surgical treatment to address this critical area of women's health.

HIV Prevention, Treatment & Cure
With over 40 million people living with HIV--the highest number in history—ending the epidemic remains a critical need. Several groups of researchers in Oregon are pursuing cutting-edge strategies, from developing an accessible preventative vaccine to advancing gene-therapy approaches aimed at fully curing those already living with HIV.
